Introducing Byte-Sized Notes
Hi, hello, and welcome to Byte-Sized Notes!
I was recently chatting with a good friend of mine (heyyy Laney!) about her passion project—the Salem witch trials and it is fascinating—when I complained I didn’t have a passion project. Sure, I write every day for work, but that’s mostly taking other people’s ideas and making them sound good. I wanted something to write about that was mine.
Eventually (after quite some whining from me), she asked me, “What’s the topic your loved ones try to avoid because they know you’ll drone on and on about for hours?” As silly as it may sound, a light bulb immediately went off over my head.
Laney asking me that question in that specific way at that specific time was exactly what I needed to realize what my passion was: tech for readers and writers. Note-taking apps, e-ink tablets, writing software, books about writing, YouTube channels about tech, digital planners… the list goes on and on.
A few questions to the rest of my friend group and some family members cemented the idea. (Apparently, once I get started on Obsidian or my new e-ink tablet, I don’t stop.)
If you like taking notes, digital planners, books like Several short sentences about writing by Verlyn Klinkenborg and How To Take Smart Notes by Sonke Ahrens, apps like Ulysses and Scrivener, and YouTube channels like morganeua, Nicole van der Hoeven, Holly Jane, and Christopher Lawley (just to name a few), stick around. I think we’ll be great friends.
(And a big shout out to my bestie, Shawn, for helping me come up with a fantastic name for this blog! You’re the real MVP.)
